Colocation means “The provision of physical space and technical facilities necessary to reasonably accommodate and connect the relevant equipment of a beneficiary.”

Colocation is the act of placing multiple entities within a single location. Colocation is often used in the data sourcing industry to mean off-site data storage, usually in a data center.

We picked the German spelling of colocation – kolokation as an alternative to the English/American spelling.

We decided to trademark the expression.

On Monday, January 11, 2021, a United Kingdom trademark registration was filed for KoloKation by Network Integration Technologies Limited White Smithy Farm, Paradise Lane, Hazlewood, TADCASTER North Yorkshire GB LS24 9NJ. The United Kingdom IP office has given the trademark application number of UK00003577545. The current status of this trademark filing is Registered. The KoloKation trademark is filed in the category of Advertising, Business & Retail Services , Construction and Repair Services , Communications Services , Transportation & Storage Services , Computer & Software Services & Scientific Services , Computer & Software Products & Electrical & Scientific Products .

In our next post we will talk about the elephant in the room.

Cloud versus colocation.

It’s inevitable that the comparison has to happen in the majority of conversations.
